Trull Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School caters for children aged 4-11 years. As a voluntary aided school the Church is represented by a majority of the Governors and the teaching staff are in sympathy with the Christian faith as expressed by the Church of England.

Classes are arranged as seven year groups from the Foundation Stage to Year 6.  Each class is assigned a class teacher responsible for the education and pastoral needs of the child for one year.  Teaching Assistants are employed to work alongside class teachers and also to support children with special educational needs.

SCHOOL ETHOS STATEMENT
Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church both at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve the community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.

We are very proud of our children and our school. which is set in the Somerset countryside in the quaint rural village of Trull, only two miles from the County Town.  Local amenities include the village stores, post office, motor repairers, garage/filling station and two pubs.

Several community groups are based in the village, including brownies, guides, scouts, beavers, short mat bowls, WI, joggers, walking groups, bellringers and choir. Trull has a very active Church Community based on our Parish Church, All Saints.

The County Town of Taunton is within easy travelling distance by bus or car, and lots of people cycle or walk to the shops and to the catchment secondary school (The Castle School). The local hospital is also within easy reach.

Taunton itself is serviced by excellent transport links, the M5 with Junctions 25 and 26 both within five miles. Taunton is on the main Paddington/Penzance rail network with London just 2hrs away. There are also two international airports, at Exeter (30 miles) and Bristol (45 miles).

There has been a school in Trull since 1755, the present school site being acquired in 1873.  After many improvements and additions in 2005 we also added solar panels and a new building extension which enhanced facilities for Key Stage 1 and provided a new office suite with reception area and a new staffroom
on the ground floor.  Other
facilities include wireless, an ICT Suite, conservation area, play area with specialist equipment and practical work areas alongside classroom space.

We are fortunate to be one of only a few primary schools to have an indoor heated swimming pool on site. This is a starter pool used by the infant and Key Stage 1 classes from April to October and gives the children water confidence skills.  We have a qualified swimming pool instructor and badges and certificates are issued.  The internal walls have designs based on children's paintings, in 2007 a mosaic mural

was also added to the outside wall of the pool (see photo above). The children in Key Stage 2 classes use the St James' Street pool in Taunton.

Our latest improvements have focused on a new loading/unloading bay with disabled parking and emergency access to the rear playing field, we have also provided bicycle storage and encourage cycling to school.  We have also had new decorative ironwork gates erected which were designed and made by one of our parents.

In 2009 we will start to become 'wireless' to improve the accessibility and use of our ICT facilities.
